I Heart Macro 06/10/2012

My lovely Oakleaf hydrangea, which I've had for about 15 years, died very suddenly.  One weekend it was healthy and full of blooms and the next weekend it was looking withered and sickly.  All of the leaves that had once been green, turned rusty.  They were actually a very pretty rusty color and I thought that it would be a beautiful color on metal.  I found a website with different ideas on how to patina copper and I tried the vinegar and sea salt method on a Vintaj brass charm.
These are pictures of the hydrangea leaves and the brass leaf that I patinated (sorry the shots aren't that great).  I was very happy with the results and will definitely try this again.  Next time I'll keep record of how long I let the metal suspend over the vinegar.

Sunday's Worship Post; Newsboys - God's Not Dead

I've been neglectful in my worship lately and I want to try something new on my blog.  Each Sunday I will post either a video or something that I feel is relevant at the time.

This Sunday's worship post is a new video by the Newsboys.

I Heart Macro 06/03/2012

Sorry I haven't posted in a few weeks.  I have really missed it, but after being on the computer 9 - 10 hours at work, the last thing I want to do when I get home is get back on the computer.  I do try to read a few of my favorite blogs while I eat breakfast each morning and I have been so inspired lately.  I've been working on some pieces and will try to get some pictures posted soon.

We have a rouge grapevine that keeps popping up in a bed by our front steps.  I have tried everything to discourage it's growth, but alas, it appears again each year.  Today I was walking in from a trip to the store, looked down and instead of the usual frustration, I saw beauty in the little fuzzy little leaves and curly red tendrils.  After putting away the groceries, I decided to collect specimens for my I Heart Macro shots.

Can you see the upside down heart in the tendril?
