Welcome to the October Art Bead Scene Monthly Challenge!

I haven't participated in a while and was happy to be able to carve out some time for this months challenge.  The inspiration piece chosen for October is so, simply beautiful.  For me the piece invokes thoughts of gracefulness, poetry and peace and I wanted to recreate those feelings in my challenge piece.  I really like the talisman necklaces that I have seen created by other jewelry designers and decided on a similar style for my piece.

I created a pendant using a green lampwork bead made by by pinocean (Mika Collins), white and grey lampwork beads by Ellen Dooley, a polymer clay owl by Rebekah Payne and incorporated Vintaj Arte Metal blanks that I Deco Embossed.  I also added moss colored patina to some ginkgo charms and dangled them from the branch that the owl is "sitting" on.  The pendant is strung on grey sari silk, labradorite beads and finished with a homemade clasp.

Visit the Art Bead Scene blog, or The Art Bead Scene Flickr Pool to see the creative designs that have been submitted.

Have a blessed day!

AJE Component of the Month Reveal & Blog Hop

Welcome!
Each month one of the Art Jewelry Elements Blog contributors makes and gives away a component to the rest of the other AJE contributors, as well as to a couple of lucky winners. I was lucky enough to be chosen to participate for the October COM Blog Hop! The component for October is this beautiful copper Ammonite piece, made by Kristi Bowman.

I was so excited to be one of the lucky guest participants!  I love Ammonites, copper and texture and Kristi united all three into one lovely component.  I already had several design ideas before I received the component in the mail.  I had recently seen some gorgeous Fossil Coral beads at Lima Beads, that I thought would look great with the component (good excuse to buy some new beads!).

And this is what I made with Kristi's component

I really like the pattern and color of the Fossil Coral with the copper component.  I had the copper S clasp, with the spiral pattern in my stash.  I had made the wire spiral clasp, but it made the bracelet too big for my wrist, so I made another bracelet to stack with the Ammonite bracelet.

Thank you, Kristi, for sharing your beautiful work and I appreciate the opportunity to participate in this month's reveal!

To see what everyone else has made with their components, please visit Art Jewelry Elements Blog for the list of participants and a link to their blog.

Art Jewelry Elements Blog

Art Jewelry Elements

If you haven't already visited Art Jewelry Elements blog, you should definitely do so.  The AJE Team is made up of several very talented and creative women, some of (or all of) whom you are probably already familiar with.  The AJE Team's posts are always informative and you can also find a wealth of information on the Free Tutorials & Favorite Posts page.

Each month AJE has a Component of the Month reveal, where one of the contributors has made a component for each of the team members and a couple of randomly chosen giveaway winners.  For the October Component of the Month, I was one of the lucky giveaway winners of Kristy Bowman's beautiful copper Ammonite component.

When I recieved the component in the mail, I already had several ideas and want to get to work right away on my reveal piece.  I did remembered to take a few pictures of the component first and borrowed a couple of my husbands fossils as photo props.

The component is gorgeous and I love the texture and the wonderful colors that Kristi was able to create in each piece.

The blog reveal will be on Wednesday October 30th.  Please visit the AJE blog and my blog to see what everyone made with Kristi's component.

Enjoy your week!
