Art Jewelry Element - February Component of the Month Reveal

I'm so excited to be one of the guest designers for the AJE February Component of the Month Challenge! The lovely components for February's challenge were made by Francesca Watson. Hand-cut copper disc, enameled in beautiful colors and then accented with silver "pebbles".
When I received Francesca's component, I knew exactly what I wanted to make. I have always wanted a lariat necklace and the component seem perfect.
The pendant had so many lovely colors and I just happened to have complimentary beads in my stash. It's hard to tell in my photo's, but the light blue color of the small seed beads is in the pendant. I also had some Czech glass beads in my stash that matched the colors in the pendant very well.
Thank you AJE and Francesca, for the opportunity to participate in your monthly challenge!

AJE Earring Challenge Week 6/52

My earrings for week 6 of the AJE Earring Challenge.

For this pair of earrings, I used a lovely pair of red, etched lampwork beads made by pinocean (Mika Collins). These are wire wrapped with various Swarovski crystals in complementary colors and Vintaj brass bead caps.

AJE Earring Challenge Week 5/52

My earrings for week 5 of the AJE Earring Challenge.

In making these earrings, I used Ellen Dooley's beautiful, organic pink, lampwork discs, strung on Vintaj brass chain.  I suspended these from wire wrapped farfalle seed beads in complementary colors and added Vintaj brass ear wires.

7th Bead Soup Blog Party - Meet My Partner Tammi Sloan

I received my email yesterday revealing my partner for the 7th Bead Soup Blog Party. This is my third time to participate and I have had so much fun each time and have met some wonderful people! This time I am excited to be partnered with Tammi Sloan of http://www.mybrownwren.blogspot.com/.  Tammi makes beautiful Artisan Crafted Eco Friendly Metal Clay Jewelry and you can find her on Etsy at http://www.etsy.com/shop/MyBrownWren

Here are a couple of my favorite pieces from Tammi's Etsy shop.

I love the warmth of these patina domed copper earrings!

And Tammi's fine silver Heart with Wings pendant is so beautiful!

Tammi and I are a part of the second reveal date, which is on April 6th. If you are not familiar with the BSBP, visit Lori Anderson's blog here for details.

A special thanks goes out to our hostess, Lori Anderson, for working so hard to put all of this together. This will be the only BSBP for 2013 and more than 500 people have signed up to participate.  Wow!  Can you imagine having to pair off that many people?

Stay tunes for some sneak peaks of my bead soup for Tammi and come back on April 6th for the reveal!

Wellness Words Jewelry Challenge 2013

I am so sorry for the late posting.  I thought I had scheduled the post to load at midnight and I must have done something wrong.

I've had a long, bad habit of holding onto things. Past hurts and failures, bad memories, pretty much anything negative. And control. I always want to be in control, even when I know it's not possible. I even hold onto material things, like cloths that I think I'll be able to get back into one day. When I come across them again, it just reminds me that I haven't been able to lose the weight yet. I've even started holding onto my bead stash. During a visit at local bead shop, my husband saw a notice that they have a swap meet once a quarter. He told me I should gather some of my beads and bring them to the next one. I said “I don't have any beads that I can swap with.” He just stood there looking at me, with this look on his face that said “Seriously! Yes.....you do.”

So the wellness word (or combination of words) I have chosen is Let Go. It is a combination of words I have been thinking about a lot lately and when I saw Tracy Statler's call for a Wellness Word Jewelry Challenge last month, I knew that I wanted to be included.

I have another bad habit of analysing everything, so I had to do some research on Let Go.

source

And I found two wonderful websites http://tinybuddha.com/blog/40-ways-to-let-go-and-feel-less-pain/, and http://www.thenakedelephant.net/2011/09/let-go-surrender-taste-freedom/ which were exactly what I needed and inspired my jewelry piece for the challenge.

I had seen a talisman necklace at the a fore mentioned bead shop and decided on a similar style for my necklace.

For the focal, I used a Buddha bead I had bought at the bead shop, along with some lampwork beads made by Ellen Dooley, strung on waxed linen.  At the end I added a Vintaj brass leaf, stamped with Let Go and hammered, a Vintaj brass leaf that I had patina-ed with salt and vinegar, a lovely ceramic gear made by Karen Totten, a couple of gemstone tear drops, an old key and various glass beads.

So, I've decided to go pack up those old cloths and take them to the DAV.  I'm also going through my beads stash and I'm going to the next swap meet at the bead shop.  I'm also letting go of my fear of learning new things and I've signed up for a bronze metal clay class at the end of the month.
